Yes, you will need your boating licence and with you at all times in order to take out a boat by yourself. We have experienced skippers available should you require one.

Essentially a bare-boat charter is a yacht or small pleasure craft which you take out by yourself (if you have your relevant licence). No skipper needed.

A skipper is a person who has command of a yacht or small pleasure craft. They are there to drive the boat if you don´t have the relevant license. The skipper has command over the whole crew and passengers.

Our experienced skippers are very knowledgeable of the island and can take you to all the best locations, beaches and snorkelling spots.  You can either tell the skipper where you would like to go and what you would like to achieve from the day or you can set back and let them take you to all the most beautiful areas.

International Marine regulation generally states that once a vessel carries more than 12 passengers, even if it is being used as a private yacht, it is considered to be a passenger ship and has to comply with the SOLAS convention (Safety of Life at Sea) set out by the IMO (International Maritime Organization). This is to ensure the safety of all passengers as it is of the utmost importance.

SOLAS involves adhering to a comprehensive list of stringent safety restrictions that are expensive to implement and this is reflected in the chartering cost increase between boats licensed for up to 12 passengers and boats licensed for more than 12 passengers. For many charter yacht owners, the additional cost does not make economic sense because of all of the boat’s charterers who would have to pay the extra regardless of their party’s number.

Thankfully, we do have a good selection of yachts that can work with large groups.

You book your charter online or on the phone with one of our colleagues. We normally take an initial deposit via our online deposit system (Either PayPal, Stripe or Bank transfer). The remaining balance is paid 10 days before the charter date.

The rest of the payment can be paid within 10 days prior to your charter date by bank transfer or you can pay on the day either by cash or via our online Chip & Pin Card Machine.

You will receive by email where and when you’ll meet the skipper on the day. The majority of time, the meeting is done at the port of departure. One of our colleagues will also be there making sure the charter delivery goes off smoothly.

You can bring your own food and drinks on the day or we can source the food on your behalf with one of our custom menus. Just ask for more info.

The exclusions in the charter price are the skipper fee, fuel fee (depending on where you go it varies) and our Food & Drinks Packages.

As our price excludes fuel, at the end of the charter we go to the fuel key to refuel the yacht. The price of this can vary depending on how far is travelled on the day, weather conditions, sea conditions etc. It is difficult to predict an accurate figure.

The best thing you can do is if you only wish to spend a certain amount of fuel then you can tell the skipper to put a cap on it so only your budgeted amount it used.

The Boat Charter Mallorca team will guide you through the process of selecting the perfect yacht to charter, which meets your requirements. We will ask a series of questions to get a clear sense of your requirements, tastes and plans, and will then carefully select a range of yachts best matching to your requirements. Each proposal is a selection of yachts that we believe may be suitable. Your careful consideration and honest feedback is much appreciated, as this allows us to find the perfect yacht to suit your needs.

Yes you certainly can. It all depends on the yacht if it has a tender to go ashore or not, but most places have a tender pick up service anyway.
